Community Volunteer Awards

Nominate a deserving someone for Person of the Year or Caught in the Act Award

Who will be Charles City’s ‘Person of the Year’ for 2026?

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and Charles City will be honoring some of its top non-profit program volunteers – as well as Person of the Year -- at the annual Community Volunteer Recognition Event on Friday, April 24th. Any and all non-profit organizations and schools are invited to participate and spotlight their best volunteers from the past 12 months.

Organized by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Charles City program, the Community Recognition event will take place at the Community Center at 900 Hulin St. from 8-9 a.m. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., with a light breakfast available. There is no cost to attend, but free will donations to help offset the event costs are welcome. The public is encouraged to attend and help honor the folks who unselfishly give of their time and talents for the benefit of others in their community.

Nominations are now being accepted for Charles City Person of the Year, which recognizes long-term commitment and efforts to assist or improve the life of others around them. ‘Caught in the Act Award’ nominations are also being accepted for anyone you have seen doing a good deed for others this past year in town. Deadline to submit a nomination is April 3rd.

Contact the Chamber/Main Street Office for more information or a nomination form at (641) 228-4234 or email info@charlescitychamber.com. Nomination forms are also available under ‘News’ at charlescitychamber.com.
