About

The Charles City Arts Center is home to the Charles City Arts Council which was formed in 1961. Our mission statement is, "To encourage and advance the understanding and appreciation of the arts and to help create an environment in which the arts and artists may flourish.”


The Charles City Arts Center is housed in a Carnegie Library building constructed in 1904. Offering monthly exhibits of local and regional artwork with a retail gallery filled with original art and handmade gifts. 

Programs include art classes for all ages and open studio access throughout the year. The juried Art-A-Fest takes place each August with exhibiting artists offering works for sale, along with food and live musical performances. Admission is free and open to the public and is ADA accessible.
