Volunteer honor nominations sought
Volunteers are the lifeblood of a community, and come in all shapes, sizes, ages and skill sets. They are what sets communities apart and makes them special in their own unique ways.
Each year Main Street Charles City and the Charles City area Chamber of Commerce host a Community Volunteer Recognition Event in April (National Volunteer Month), open to all non-profit organizations and schools in town, to honor their top volunteer(s) of the past year. The event is also where the Charles City Man of the Year and Woman of the Year are announced. In addition, “Caught In The Act” awards are given out to people seen doing an unselfish act for others or their community during the past year.
Nominations for volunteers who you feel should be recognized can be submitted at any time to the Community Development Office at 401 North Main St., (641) 228-2335, info@charlescitychamber.com, or to the non-profit entity/school that they volunteer for. Man of the Year and Woman of the Year, as well as Caught in the Act Award nomination forms, are available at ww.charlescitychamber.com. Watch for the date and time of the 2024 Community Volunteer Recognition Event in April.
